서울시 ‘코로나19, 도시정부 간 협력과 연대 글로벌 서밋’영상축사

CAC(Cities Against COVID-19) Global Summit 2020에 오신 국내외 인사들께 감사의 인사를 전합니다. 이번 글로벌 서밋은 ‘무관중 화상회의’로 진행되는데, 코로나19의 여파를 새삼 실감하게 됩니다.
 
인류는 지금 코로나19 라는 공동의 위기에 직면해 있으며, 이를 극복할 수 있는 길은 ‘정보 공유와 연결의 힘’입니다. ‘민족주의적 고립과 폐쇄’가 아닌, ‘글로벌 개방과 연대, 국제사회의 협력’이 요구됩니다.

앞으로 글로벌 연대는 코로나19와의 전쟁에서 승패를 가르는 인류의 무기가 될 것입니다. 저는 이것을 ‘전지구적 사회 자본(Global Social Capital)' 이라고 부르고 싶습니다. 오늘 CAC(Cities Against COVID-19) Global Summit 2020이 그 중요한 출발점이 될 것입니다.

존경하는 세계 각 시장님들과 글로벌 서밋 참가자 여러분,

대한민국은 초기에 코로나19 확진자 증가로 큰 어려움을 겪었으나, IT 기술을 바탕으로 한 자가격리앱 활용, 촘촘한 동선 파악, 드라이브 스루 등 혁신적인 검진기법 도입 등을 통해 감염 확대를 막을 수 있었습니다.

이러한 성공적인 대한민국의 방역시스템은 ‘K-방역’으로 불리고 있으며, 세계의 많은 나라, 주요 도시들이 배워가고 있습니다.
대한민국은 앞으로도 ‘연대와 협력’의 정신으로, 한국의 코로나19 진단기술과 방역 시스템이 국제사회의 ‘코로나19’ 종식에 기여하기를 희망합니다. 필요한 물품지원, 정보공유를 아끼지 않겠습니다.

마지막으로, 이번 글로벌 서밋을 통해 도시 정부 간 연대와 협력의 의지를 확인하고, 코로나19 위기 극복을 위한 좋은 결론을 도출할 수 있기를 기대합니다. 여러분들께서 지혜를 모아주시기를 바랍니다. 감사합니다.







Greetings, ladies and gentlemen.

I am the prime minister of the Republic of Korea, Sye-kyun Chung.

I want to thank everyone joining us today at Cities Against COVID-19 (CAC) Global Summit 2020. Today’s CAC is being hosted virtually in the absence of a live audience, which further underscores the profound impact of COVID-19 on our daily lives.

Together, we now face a common crisis - COVID-19. And the way to overcome it lies in the power of “information sharing and connection.” Rather than retreat into “nationalist isolation and closure,” we need to move forward towards “global access and solidarity.”

International cooperation, as humanity’s greatest resource, will determine the outcome of our struggle against COVID-19. I’d like to call this “Global Social Capital,” of which today’s CAC Global Summit 2020 will serve as a springboard.

Esteemed mayors of the world and participants of today’s Global Summit,

At the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, Korea struggled due to the rapid increase of ed cases. But the use of an IT-based self-quarantine app, meticulous contact tracing, and innovative diagnostic methods such as drive-through testing centers enabled us to curb further spread of the virus.

The success of this disease control system has given rise to the term “K-Disease Control” as a useful reference point to many major cities around the world.

In the spirit of “solidarity and cooperation,” Korea hopes that its COVID-19 testing technology and disease control system will contribute to the international eradication of the virus. We will do our utmost to provide necessary material support and share knowledge and information.

Finally, we hope that this global summit serves to reaffirm the solidarity and will to cooperate among city governments, while promoting progress toward overcoming the COVID-19 crisis. Insofar as “many hands make light work,” I ask that you gather all your collective wisdom at today’s summit.
