It was a thriving hub of commerce and culture, linking China, Japan, Persia, and Rome.
경주는 고대 신라 왕국의 수도였습니다.
신라는 중국, 일본, 페르시아, 로마를 잇는 상업과 문화의 번영된 중심지였습니다.

That is why we have invited you here today to discuss global prosperity.
그래서 이곳 경주에서, 오늘 세계의 번영에 대해 논의하고자 여러분을 모셨습니다.

Thanks to your tireless efforts for innovation,
APEC has evolved into a key platform for global economic cooperation.
여러분의 끊임없는 혁신을 위한 노력 덕분에, APEC은 세계 경제 협력의 핵심 플랫폼으로 발전했습니다.

Today, the world stands at a critical juncture.
오늘날 세계는 중대한 갈림길에 서 있습니다.

It seems that anything is possible in this era of AI.
However, widening social gaps, mass unemployment, and deepening isolation are concerning.
지금 AI 시대에는 무엇이든 가능한 것 같습니다.
그러나 사회 격차의 확대, 대규모 실업, 그리고 심화되는 고립은 우려스럽습니다.

In the past, the world economy was driven by free trade.
But now we face increasing geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and rising protectionism.
과거에는 세계 경제가 자유무역에 의해 주도되었습니다.
하지만 지금 우리는 고조되는 지정학적 긴장, 공급망의 혼란, 그리고 강화되는 보호무역주의에 직면해 있습니다.

I’m sure that you are more familiar with these changes than anyone else.
저는 여러분이 이러한 변화들에 대해 누구보다 잘 알고 계시리라 확신합니다.

As a leading platform for global economic cooperation,
how can APEC play a role in this context?
세계 경제 협력을 위한 선도적인 플랫폼으로서, APEC은 이러한 상황에서 어떤 역할을 할 수 있을까요?

What we need now is change and innovation.
지금 우리에게 필요한 것은 변화와 혁신입니다.

That vision is captured in the theme of this CEO Summit,
‘Bridge, Business, Beyond.’
그 비전은 이번 CEO Summit의 주제인 ‘Bridge, Business, and Beyond’에 담겨 있습니다.

‘Bridge,’ because today’s global challenges cannot be overcome
by the efforts of a single country.
먼저, 다리(Bridge)입니다. 왜냐하면 오늘날의 글로벌 도전 과제들은 한 나라의 노력만으로는 극복할 수 없기 때문입니다.

We need bridges reaching beyond borders, and bridges connecting the Global North and South.
우리는 국경을 넘어 전 세계 남북을 연결하는 다리가 필요합니다.

And not just between governments. Businesses, academia, and civil society must all come together to reach across these bridges.
그것은 정부 간에만 국한된 것이 아닙니다.
기업, 학계, 시민사회 모두가 함께 연결되어야 합니다.

The next keyword is ‘Business.’
The Korean Government is focused on strengthening our ‘ABCDE’ industries, namely, AI, Bio, Contents and Culture, Defense, and Energy.
다음 핵심 단어는 ‘비즈니스(Business)’입니다.
한국 정부는 ABCDE 산업을 강화하는 데 주력하고 있습니다.
AI, Bio, Contents & Culture, Defense, and Energy.

But true innovation and growth cannot be achieved without the central role of the business sector.
하지만 진정한 혁신과 성장은 기업의 중심적 역할 없이는 달성될 수 없습니다.

The role of government is to support and encourage businesses in their creative and innovative works.
정부의 역할은 기업이 창의적이고 혁신적인 활동을 펼칠 수 있도록 지원하고 격려하는 것입니다.

Lastly, ‘Beyond.’
We must look beyond the horizon and aim for a brighter tomorrow.
마지막으로, ‘비욘드(Beyond)’입니다.
우리는 지평선 너머를 바라보며 더 밝은 내일을 목표로 삼아야 합니다.

Especially for our future generations, we should strive to narrow social gaps, deal with climate change, and create inclusive institutions.
특히 미래 세대를 위해 사회적 격차를 줄이고, 기후변화에 대처하며, 포용적인 제도를 만들어 나가야 합니다.
