한-튀르키예, 평화와 번영을 향한 우리의 동행은 계속됩니다

'칸 카르데쉬'.
튀르키예 말로 피를 나눈 형제를 뜻합니다. 한국전쟁 당시 수교하기 전인데도 자발적으로 참전해 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 위해 함께 싸워준 형제의 나라 튀르키예에 걸맞은 표현입니다.

수교 이래 약 70년에 걸쳐 안보, 경제, 문화, 인적 교류를 통해 돈독한 관계를 이어 온 양국은 이제 방산, 원전, 바이오, 인프라, 신재생에너지와 같은 미래지향적 분야의 전략적 협력을 더욱 강화하기로 뜻을 모았습니다.

보훈, 원전, 인프라 MOU 체결과 더불어 양국 기업 및 관련 기관 간 혈액제제 계약, 풍력발전 MOU 체결도 매우 의미 있는 성과라고 생각합니다.

각 분야별 협력 방안의 진전 사항을 점검하기 위해 양국 간 경제공동위원회도 10년 만에 재개합니다. '늦었다고 생각할 때가 가장 빠른 때'라는 말처럼 협력에 박차를 가할 것입니다.

한반도 문제, 중동 정세와 같은 다양한 지역 및 글로벌 현안에 대해 함께 해결방안을 모색하고, 인적·문화적 교류도 더욱 확대해 나갈 계획입니다.

이번 정상회담을 통해, 우리의 두터운 우정을 바탕으로 한 전략적 협력이 날로 강화되고, 미래세대까지 이어질 것이라는 믿음을 갖게 됐습니다.

양국 번영을 위해 함께 논의한 사항들이 신속히 이행될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠습니다. 따뜻하게 환대해 주신 레젭 타입 에르도안 대통령님께 깊은 감사 인사를 전합니다.

"Kan Kardeş" means "brothers bound by blood" in Turkish. It is a fitting expression for Türkiye, a brother nation that voluntarily participated in the Korean War, fighting alongside us for the freedom and peace of the Republic of Korea, even before establishing diplomatic relations with us.

Over the nearly 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, our two countries have built a strong and enduring partnership across security, the economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges. We are now in agreement to further strengthen our strategic cooperation in future-oriented sectors such as the defense industry, nuclear energy, biotechnology, infrastructure, and renewable energy.

In addition to the signing of MOUs regarding veterans affairs, nuclear energy, and infrastructure, I also consider the MOUs regarding blood products and wind power between our companies and relevant institutions to be highly meaningful achievements.

To review progress in each area of cooperation, the Joint Economic Committee between our two nations will reconvene for the first time in a decade. As the saying goes, "the best time to start is when you think it is already late," and we will accelerate our cooperative efforts.

We will also continue seeking solutions together on regional and global issues such as the Korean Peninsula and the situation in the Middle East, while further expanding our people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Through this summit, I am convinced that our strategic cooperation, grounded in deep friendship, will continue to grow stronger and extend into future generations.

I will do my utmost to ensure that the matters we discussed for the prosperity of both nations are implemented swiftly. I extend my deepest appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his warm hospitality.
